My Review of Finding Love in Eureka, California
This series follows a different Lake brother–there are four novels and a long novella–one for each of the five brothers. This one follows Matt and Genevieve, or Gen, as she’s often referred to in the book. Gen is a quirky, caring, sweet young lady who’s heart’s desire is to mend the broken people in her family–but a strong fear birthed from her past abandonment, keeps her from moving past her own broken places.
Matt is a conflicted man who believes he’s in love with someone else while being drawn into the warmth Gen sends out to anyone she meets. He’s attracted to her joy and whimsical nature, but he can’t see himself giving up the perfect woman he’s already found.
I LOVE Angela’s books–she has a way of entertaining while going deep to the heart of a variety of difficult subjects. None of her books are fluff, yet each one can have you laughing one moment and tearing up the next–all while rooting for her characters. There is so much to this particular book–so much healing–that you won’t want to miss it.
I strongly recommend you get your hands on a copy soon! It’s the fourth book in the series. While each book can easily stand on its own, it’s so much more fun to read them in order and meet the entire Lake family of brothers!
Book Summary
The branches on her family tree are broken, so what makes her think she can grow a strong relationship?
Raised in a family of six adopted siblings, Genevieve Wilson fights to keep her dysfunctional brothers and sisters together, but everyone still seems to leave. If she’s not good enough to prevent her birth parents from giving her up or her siblings from abandoning her, then there’s no way she would ever be enough to have a lasting relationship with the successful pilot from work—which is exactly what makes him a safe subject for her daydreams.
Matt Lake is dating the perfect woman and working a great job. Life is easy until he starts to enjoy hanging out with the airline employees more than with his girlfriend—one sweet female employee in particular. He tells himself he’s only intrigued by Gen’s quirkiness, but nobody else makes him smile the way she does.
Can Matt give up the flawless life he’d planned in exchange for the messiness of love? And if so, will Gen risk her heart on reality when it’s never paid off in the past?

I’m sad there are no more Lake brothers!
I agree, Becky! I could have just kept going on the Lake brothers. I’m glad we got five!!
Me too. But I’m excited for you to meet the characters in my next series!
I just bought this book this morning. Don’t know when I will get around to reading it (there is a queue…), but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. 🙂
Thank you, Beverly! I’m guessing you’ve read at least one of the other books in this series? Angela does a wonderful job on her stories. We certainly appreciate your support.
I’m honored to be in your to-be-read pile.
Sounds like a fun read.
It is a fun read, Carrie…but with a lot of depth as well. I love the various siblings and their struggles depicted in this book with the theme of abandonment and restoration.
I completely agree that Angela has a way of “entertaining while going deep to the heart of a variety of difficult subjects.” Her books have great depth to them! Talking about re-reading books today, and it made me think about how I would like to re-read this series! Please don’t enter me in the e-book giveaway since I already have it, but I just wanted to say how much I enjoy Angela’s books.
Thank you, Becky. That’s an even greater honor to be in a to-be-REread pile. 🙂
