Win a Historical Novel by Mary Connealy

Win a Historical Novel by Mary Connealy

Swept Away by Mary Connealy–This One is a Keeper!

Swept AwayThis is my first book by Mary Connealy. Let me preface by saying I wasn’t sure if it would be something I’d enjoy. I’d heard reviewers in the past say Mary’s style is romantic comedy and that doesn’t fit with what I typically enjoy.

I was wrong.

The characters were wonderfully drawn and strong, and the story was interesting, not silly, with touches of humor that I could thoroughly relate to and enjoy. I LOVE historical novels set in the old west, and a romance makes it even better. I enjoyed everything about this book and will definitely be looking for others by this author from now on.

I would highly recommend this book.

When a cowboy focused on revenge encounters a woman determined to distract him, there’s going to be trouble in Texas!
Swept away when her wagon train attempts a difficult river crossing, Ruthy MacNeil isn’t terribly upset at being separated from the family who raised her. All they’ve ever done is work her to the bone. Alive but disoriented, she’s rescued by Luke Stone…so unfortunately, there are more chances to die in her immediate future.
Luke is on a mission to reclaim the ranch stolen from his family. But the men currently on the property won’t let it go without a fight. Luke plans to meet up with friends who will help him take back the land, and since he can’t just leave Ruthy in the middle of nowhere, she’s going to have to go with him.
But the more time Luke spends around the hardworking young woman, the more he finds himself thinking of things besides revenge. Will Ruthy convince him to give up his destructive path and be swept away by love?

  1. I am excited about this giveaway. I love her writing. I have read many of her books. My favorite was probably her lassoed in texas trilogy. I love the historical christian fiction the best. I love to see the characters deal with real trouble in real ways and see how the LORD delivers them. Always lessons in even these fiction books:) You can email Heartsandhooves4christ@yahoo.com. And I am already subscribed to your blog cause I love it to:)

  2. CountryCowgirl (LOVE that user name!) thank you so much for your sweet comments. I’m so tickled you enjoy my blog, and I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment for Mary, as well. Blessings!!

  3. I was introduced to Mary’s books with the Kincaid Brothers. I loved Rafe, Ethan, and Seth. I am an avid reader and I don’t really have a favorite genre. I love good clean Christian books. I can’t wait to read “Swept Away.” I’d love to win a copy of it.

    Blessings!

I have become a follower of your blog.

  4. I have not had the privilege to read any of Mary”s works. But, I trust Miralee’s recommendations, as I have followed her novels. Being a very busy Nana to 3 little gals limits my reading time so, when I read I do enjoy Christian Novels. If I am selected I will look forward to adding Mary’s novels to my Library.
    Thanks for the opportunity.

  6. I love Mary’s books. I usually read historical fiction. What I appreciate about Mary’s books is the humor and unexpected twists and turns. I also like her strong female characters. I think I have read most of her books.

Miralee i think I’m subscribed to your blog. If I’m not I will do it.

  8. I’ve read one book by Mary. A Home for Christmas.
I love the cover of this current book. I believe I saw it in my local Walmart today.
My favorite genre is contemporary Christian romance.

  9. I’ve read Mary’s Kincaid Brides series.

My favorite genre is suspense (which tells you I really like Mary’s books because they’re not suspense, and I still like them).

  12. I have always wanted to read a book by Mary Connealy. She’s on my “must read” list.

I can’t really say I have a favorite genre. I love romance, mystery, medical, suspense, Amish, women’s fiction. I love books that take you into the characters and you feel that you live in the same town, have the same issues, and share the same experiences. Can’t wait to read this one. Thanks for the opportunity.

  15. SANDY, My books are just like Amish Fiction….except for the gunfire and fistfights and general mayhem. But other than that…totally Amish.

  16. CHERI, if you don’t win this, go to the library. I’m a big library girl myself. You can also go to Amazon and get Out of Control for FREE, the exact same price as AIR, for a Kindle. It’s no Nook and every ebook format.

  17. Mary, thank you so much for stopping by! I just downloaded Out of Control and so appreciate you letting us know it’s available. I also posted about it on FB and sent the link to a few friends.

Amish Fiction with gunfights and fistfights, huh? Gotta LOVE it!!

  18. I love Mary’s books! They have just the right blend of history & humor. I like a little “sauce” in my books. My favorite genre to read is Regency but any historical comes in right after that.

Congrats on your coming granddaughter, too! Grandbabies are the best 🙂

  21. Thanks for the give away, I started reading one of Mary’s books, In Too Deep. I have to admit I couldn’t get into it. BUT I’ve heard so many good things about Mary’s stories, I would love the chance to win another one of her books. My favorite genre is suspense/mystery types. But I’m learning there are a lot of great books out there in different genres.
    Blessings

  22. I have 3 of Mary Connealy’s books from the Montana Marriages series and I just loved them. I have read others at the library.

I think that I love reading historical novels because life was a whole lot simpler then. Not easy, but simpler. It helps that things like mail order brides, etc. were romantic.

  23. I’m a big fan of Mary’s books; I’ve probably read a dozen of hers, maybe more. I always feel good when reading a book by Mary, whether it is one of her cozy mysteries (Nosy in Nebraska) or her romantic comedies with cowboys.I like how she weaves her series together (having characters appear in other books; it’s like visiting old friends).
I read mostly Christian fiction: historical, contemporary, women’s fiction, mystery, suspense. Once in a while I will read an Amish story. I will sometimes read non Christian cozy mysteries, but only if they are “clean.” I love a good story.
Thanks for giving away Mary’s book.

  24. Mary, thank you so much for joining us and replying to so many of the comments. We know you’re busy and appreciate your time.

Thanks so much to everyone who entered and who chose to follow my blog. You gals are the best! I wish everyone could win a book! I’m headed to see our kids tomorrow and my brand new granddaughter, Kate Isabelle, so I probably won’t have time to draw a name and notify until Tuesday.

And thank you for the sweet notes of congratulations on Kate’s birth. I’m a very proud new grandma!

  25. I have read a few of Mary’s books and have really enjoyed them. My favorite reading is suspense and cozy mysteries but do read other genres as well. I am a avid reader

  26. I love reading Mary;’s books. When my husband battled cancer the humor really helped as I read them during his chemo treatments and then left them for other chemo patients/family to read. My favorite is her Texas trilogy.

  27. I love Mary Connealy’s books! My favorites were her Lassoed in Texas series. I don’t necessarily have a favorite genre, I love it all 🙂
