The Reviews Have Started!

In case you can’t make a decsion whether to purchase my new book, maybe the following reviews will help you decide. Here’s some of the great things being said by readers:

Five Stars--As a long term reader of western and author of many, it takes a lot to impress me in this genre. Miralee Ferrell did just that with “Love Finds You in Last Chance, California.” Appealing characters. Believable storyline. Excellent plot with plenty of action that keeps you turning pages. This book is worth making room for on even the most crowded bookshelves–one to read again and again. I did just that! Colleen L. Reece, 140 “Books You Can Trust,” approx. 6 million copies sold

Miralee Ferrell weaves together a spunky heroine, a unique setting, a touch of mystery, and a pleasing dose of romance to create a tale that points to a simple yet significant truth: when we trust God, all things work together for good. Last Chance is a story that will entertain and edify–Christian fiction at its best.

Reviewed by Sharlene MacLaren — Five Stars (Spring Lake, MI), January 02, 2009What a charming, delightful read! Three cheers for Miralee Ferrell’s poignant writing style. I could not put this book down, and even as I write this review, having just read the final page, it is well past midnight. This is not the first book by Miralee Ferrell I have read, and after reading Love Finds You in Last Chance, California, I am more convinced than ever I’ll be looking for more of her titles. “Last Chance” has a fine blend of tension and conflict, seasoned with tender, blossoming love. Exactly the kind of book I seek out. It is more than a sweet, endearing historical romance; it is an inspiring, absorbing book, wrought with interesting, colorful characters, that will hold its readers’ attention from beginning to end. This is one of those books worth every minute of time and every penny invested.

Alexia Travers’ world takes a decided downward spiral when her beloved father dies unexpectedly. After his death, the devastated young woman is dealt a number of shocking revelations: The horse ranch she and her father ran together is heavily mortgaged; gold has been found on their property, but only her father knew where; he was keeping something from her just prior to his death; and hidden among her friends and acquaintances is someone who does not have her best interests at heart. It’s 1877, and the world isn’t ready for take-charge women, but that doesn’t deter Alex. Dressed in the men’s pants which have long made her an object of derision among Last Chance’s female population, she takes her father’s place riding the range – fiercely independent, stubbornly proud, and set on paying off the unwelcome debt by making the ranch a success on her own. Her father taught her everything she needed to know to manage the spread, and she’ll move heaven and earth, if necessary, to make it work. Enter Justin Phillips, a widower with a three-year-old son in tow. He’s a talented wrangler looking for a job – and he’s willing to work for a woman. Having lost a few ranch hands for no better reason than her gender, Alex needs someone like Justin. But can she trust him? He’s not afraid to work and knows how to handle a horse – but he also has more than one secret, a pair of brown eyes that play havoc with her emotions, and an adorable little boy who captures her heart right from the get-go. Dare Alex allow this stranger into her world? Dare she not? More importantly, in her effort to show herself strong and capable in her father’s stead…will Alex ever learn to lean on the One who can solve all her problems and insure a happy outcome? An overall good book with moments of heart-pounding suspense, enough mystery to keep the pages turning, and a carefully doled dosage of tender romance. Miralee Ferrell “brings it on” in this one – an entertaining and inspiring tale.

  4. HI Miralee,
Just finished reading your book and I loved it. The characters were lifelike and full of spunk. The romance was sweet and the mystery intriguing. Add in the west and beautiful setting and who could resist. : )

  5. Your book sounds absolutely great!! I love reading in the period of history that you are covering. It seems like God and home and family are the most importan things in life! Kind of hard to say that these days and oh so sad. Please enter me in the contest. Thanks so much!!!
Oh, I must salute you on finding the care of the horse and the effort you put out for one poor animal that was not being treated very well.
