“The Choice” Contest and Exciting News!!

Suzanne’s Woods Fisher’s Lancaster Secrets series!

I’m reading this book right now and thoroughly enjoying it! I won’t post a review now, as I’d prefer to wait until I finish, but let’s just say it’s not like a lot of the other Amish books I’ve read. I like the premise of the book….a young woman is in love with an Amish man who decides to leave the faith and join a baseball team. When a tragedy happens in her family, she’s torn between the man she loves and loyalty to her remaining family….and a choice she must make. So far the characters are believable and heartwarming, I’ve already gotten angry with one of the not-so-sympathetic characters, and am rooting for the heroine. More later!

The author is hosting a wonderful Author talk and Book Bomb party….see the details below. Lots of chances to win great prizes, so be sure and check it out.

Be sure to follow along and see what other’s are saying about The Choice – and see you on February 15th for Suzanne’s Author Talk and Book Bomb! Fun. (Buy the book on Feb. 15th, submit your receipt to amy@litfusegroup.com and be entered to win a $25 gift certificate to Amazon.com! Details here!)

About the book:

Lancaster County has always been her home–but where does her heart belong?

One moment Carrie Weaver was looking forward to running away with Lancaster Barnstormers pitcher Solomon Riehl–plans that included leaving the Amish community where they grew up. The next moment she was staring into a future as broken as her heart. Now, Carrie is faced with a choice. But will this opportunity be all she hoped? Or will this decision, this moment in time, change her life forever?

A tender story of love, forgiveness, and looking below the surface, The Choice uncovers the sweet simplicity of the Amish world–and shows that it’s never too late to find your way back to God.

What others are saying:

I have read Christian fiction before but never one that centers around the Amish. I wasn’t sure what I would think at first but once I started reading it I found myself stealing any moment I could to read. Suzanne’s writing had me feeling like I was part of the story; I cared for the people in the book. This book shows how God tests each of us with trials but he is faithful to provide for us.The discussion questions at the end of the book make it perfect for a book club. I will be sure to check out the next book in the Lancaster Country Series!

I am generally not a huge fan of Christian fiction. I like it okay, I buy it and I read it, but I usually find it to be terribly predictable: happy life, trouble, crisis of faith, finding faith again, we all live happily ever after. Not that this is a bad plan of action, but do I really want to read that same book over and over? Not really. The Choice is not that book. It’s filled with twists that the reader does not anticipate (at least this one didn’t!), making for a very enjoyable read. This book also gave me some insight to the Amish faith, which I enjoyed learning about. The Choice is the first book in the Lancaster County Secrets series. I was very impressed and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!

Wendy at It’s JUST Me
Wow! What an absolutely exceptional book! I loved it. I gave this book 5 stars. I put Suzanne Woods Fisher right up there with(and maybe even surpassing) other Amish book writers. I was truly caught up in the sorrow and heartache that “Carrie” was feeling. I cried for her losses and then cried tears of joy when she finally found happiness and her place in life. The Character development was excellent. I have to say that I am truly now a fan of Suzanne Woods Fisher.

WOW! Suzanne Woods Fisher hits this one out of the park! Fisher took details of Amish culture and an AMAZING plot and took me on a roller coaster of heart break and love….and back dooooown the other side when I least expected it!

Tina at Mad Hatter Mom
Suzanne writes a book that is filled with LIFE! If you are looking for a sweet love story that throws a few monkey wrenches at you just when you think you have it figured out, then this is the book for you! *Warning* This is book one of a new series that Suzanne is writing. Prepare to be hooked!

Sherry at My Journey Back
When I began this book I expected it to be predictable. And I have said before in my reviews those of us that read romances should expect predictability. I mean we read them because we expect the girl to get the guy in the end. And so yes The Choice is predictable in that manner. But that is where predictability ends. I was caught up in this story. There are twists and turns throughout. I was totally surpirsed by the event in Chapter 14 and how it turned out. I never realized who the villian was. In fact I thought I knew who it was and boy was I wrong.

Difficult to put the book down. Suzanne Fisher weaves several smaller stories into the main story creating an exciting and compelling narrative. While there may be a stereotype for Christian fiction books, especially with regards to the Amish, this book broke the mold! Suzanne doesn’t include frivolous information about the Amish lifestyle. She writes, assuming the reader has a basic understanding about the Amish. I, for one, find that refreshing! (She doesn’t insult the reader.)

  1. I also enjoyed “The Choice” and look forward to reading Suzanne Woods Fisher’s next novel.

I thought the plot was great – robust and satisfying – like a flavourful wine. There were twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. There were love triangles, wise old grandmas, wise elders who gave loving counsel, caring sisters, jail birds, guarded secrets, mystery, and sweet, sweet romance. The chemistry between the two main characters was very believable and I enjoyed it immensely.

    I wrote a more in-depth review on my own web-site http://www.tracysbooknook.com
