Now….a little more about Sherry!

On July 9th twenty-three years ago, Sherry and her college sweetheart, Douglas Kyle, said, “I do”—a decision that she says is the best one she’s ever made. Eighteen and a half years ago, Sherry became a mom for the first time and has since added two more children by birth and one by adoption to her brood. She loves to spend time with her family—whether they are taking walks along the beach where they live in Central California or playing in the snow of northern Tahoe. Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, you can find Sherry moving to the beat of Latin music at her church’s Zumba class. Besides dancing, she enjoys reading and hanging out with her friends at local coffee shops. She has two books in print, one for tween girls titled The Christian Girl’s Guide to Style, and Delivered with Love, her debut novel.

Hey everyone….Miralee here…..if you have a young teen or pre-teen, you MUST get a copy of Sherry’s book The Christian Girl’s Guide to Style. It’s fantastic!!!!!!

And Now…..Delivered With Love

An old love letter found in the glove compartment of a young woman’s inherited 1972 Volkswagen propels her to leave her life in Los Angeles and go to the small town of Capitola, California. There her dream of finding the writer of the letter leads her on an unexpected journey that changes her life forever.

Claire James, age twenty-three, is ready to make it on her own. When she’s fired from her job as a waitress and subsequently kicked out of her sister’s home, she sees it as an opportunity to start over. But even before moving, a thirty-five-year-old love letter written to her mother keeps Claire stuck in the past. Michael Thompson, a middle-aged real estate agent, wants to keep the past where it belongs–at least until his grown daughter is married. But, then a young woman comes to town…

Endorsement:

Delivered With Love–delivers–romance, suspense, conflict, humor and terrific true-to-life characters. Every one of them has something special that drew me in. And the setting, Capitola, California, is a lovely backdrop to this heart-warming story that will keep you turning the pages. A great start for debut novelist Sherry Kyle.

  1. I actually have two questions for Sherry. 1) How long did it take for you to become a published writer and 2) How many books have you written?

This book sounds like a really good read. I am an avid reader and I’m always looking for new authors (to me) to read. “Delivered With Love” sounds like a really good book. I’d love to win a copy.

Miralee, I just subscribed to your blog. I’m looking forward to all your updates and I am happy to be part of A Christ Centered Blog! Thank you!

  2. Hi Judy!

Thanks so much for the questions. I started taking writing courses in 1997 when my kids were small and have continued to go to conferences since. I received my first book contract by a small publisher in 2003 for a children’s book titled My Special Someone about adoption from a child’s perspective. By now I’ve written several children’s books and a few novels. Delivered with Love is my first published novel and incidentally the first novel I wrote.

I’m glad to hear you’re an avid reader looking for new authors! Thats awesome.

    Blessings!
    Sherry

  3. Hi Sherry!!

This book sounds really great!! My question is, is there a story behind where you picked the setting to be in Capitola, California?

Thanks for the chance to win a copy of Delivered With Love. Sounds great!

  4. Hi Courtney!

Glad you stopped by. Yes, besides being beautiful, I picked the small coastal town of Capitola because it’s near to where I live and it has so much personality. Did you watch the tour? It was a cloudy day when we shot that video, but it still shows off its charm. Thanks for asking. 🙂

Do you live near a fun small town that you’d write a story about?

    Blessings,
    Sherry

  5. Hi Sherry, My question is when did you decide to write a book? Was there a special event in you life that lead you to write?

I love the story line and can’t wait to read. I love suspense and mystery with romance thrown into the mix.

Thanks for this oopportunity to enter giveaway.

  6. Hi Kallie!

Good question. I started writing children’s books, then decided to write a novel when the market was slow. I LOVE to read women’s fiction and thought I’d give it a try. I’m so glad I did! 🙂 It’s a dream to see my novel in print.

What do you dream of doing? What’s stopping you?

    Blessings,
    Sherry

  7. Hi Sherry! 3 questions :0) How did you know that adoption was right for your family, and was it a long process? How was the transition for your new child?

Your book sounds like a fun summer read. Thanks for the giveaway.

    Miralee, I’m a subscriber 🙂

  8. Hi Anne.

I’ve wanted to adopt since I was ten years old after watching the movie The Inn of the Sixth Happiness with my mom and sister. I approached my husband with the idea when my kids were 2,4 and 6. He told me he wasn’t surprised and that he’s known that I wanted to adopt since we were dating in college. We chose fost/adopt and it took 9 months before our beautiful little baby girl came into our home. She was 10 months old. Our three children adapted beautifully and welcomed their sister home. We’re the only family Grace remembers, so the transition was fine for her too. Of course, like all parents we had some adjustments to make. The adoption was finalized when she was 2 1/2. Thanks for asking! I LOVE to promote adoption as a way to build families. God requires us to take care of the widows and orphans (James 1: 27). 🙂

I also enjoy a good summer read and glad you do too!

    Blessings,
    Sherry

  9. This book sounds so good!
My question for Sherry is: How long does it take you to write a story? How long did it take you to write “Delivered With Love”?
The story sounds really fun and I am so thankful for the chance to win!
I too love discovering new authors, their talents, their gifts, never cease to amaze me!
Thanks so much and I pray continued success for you!

  10. HI Deborah ~

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. It takes me about 9 months to complete a story, including multiple drafts. Delivered with Love took about that long as well. It was my first full length novel, so it may have taken me a bit longer. I learned so much during the writing of DWL, and still have much to learn.

I’m glad the story sounds fun to you!

    Blessings,
    Sherry

  11. “Delivered With Love” sounds like a wonderful book to read. I always love hearing about new authors since I am a avid reader.

What type of books do you like to read?

  12. Hi Jo!

I like all kinds of book—contemporary, historical, suspense and even westerns (thanks to Miralee!), but they all have to have a thread of romance to keep me turning pages. Thanks for asking.

    What about you?

    Blessings,
    Sherry

  15. Sherry,

That’s cool to know why you picked the town you did for the setting of the story. I live in a small town but I don’t think it is special enough to write a story about. Unless it was like a suspense – there is a lot of crime in my small town! However, if I could write a story on any town it would be a small beach town in Oregon or something, like Tilamook, I love going to visit there!

  16. HI Martha,

Thanks for asking about Zumba. I’ve never taken a dance class, but was a cheerleader for 4 years in high school, so I’ve got rhythm. I also can follow the person leading with no problem. I enjoy playing Dance Central on Kinect with my girls. They don’t like it that I can beat them. LOL!

What do you like to do to stay active?

    Blessings!
    Sherry

  17. HI Jackie!

I’ve always been pretty creative. As a child I enjoyed writing, drawing, sewing, and any type of craft. It wasn’t until I had children and frequented the library every couple of weeks that the thought occurred to me to pursue writing seriously. And yes, I’ve always enjoyed books! I LOVE to read!

What are you reading right now?

    Blessings,
    Sherry

  18. Courtney,

I LOVE Tilamook cheese! 🙂 LOL!
Sorry to hear about the crime in your small town. Like you said, it would be a good suspense novel!

    Happy Friday!
    Sherry

  19. Miralee-I forgot to let you know that I am also a follower. Of course!!! yey! so please count me twice!
